After 2 long months of preparation for the First Anniversary, the time had finally come. For me, it was a big step on my cake business to organize an event such as like this, knowing that Gold Ribbon Cake is a new and a small business. Well, just like when you had a baby and turning one, you always want to give your baby the best celebration that you can ever give. I treat Gold Ribbon Cake as my baby.
In my first year on cake business; the appreciations, acceptance and compliments that I have been receiving are really overwhelming. I can’t find exact words to describe the feelings when I make other people happy because of my creations. Even I surprised myself every time I looked at my finished work. I am not really a baker and decorator; not even had formal training on baking and cake decorating. I learned all these on my own by researching, watching video tutorials, and trying out. I just love arts and perhaps, I found cake decorating as a good medium to express my artistic side.
It was really a tough journey when you are doing things from scratch. I had burnt countless cakes and myself before I get it all right. Along the way, I also had encountered people that showed disbelief on my skills and talents. Well, I know myself more than they. Therefore, I worked hard to improve my skills and perfect my cakes. Everything happened so fast, and I could even hardly see that negativity around. Keeping my motto, “When you love what you love to do, what you love to will love you back”. Alright, there is so much love on that quote, and it’s a simple key that I kept and prove.
Nevertheless, after pushing myself hard to go the distance and as far as I can, the time had finally come. Even more confident now to say to everyone, “I did it! It was tough, but hey, I made it!” If you have dreams, keep on believing. Always have strong faith that the Big Boss is there guiding you. Everything is possible.
It may sound too much, but I won’t get tired to say, “Thank You”. Thanks to Charles Chan (2MCR 100.3 FM) and Albert Prias (WOW FM 100.7), who supported and helped me in announcing the event on their radio programmes. To my good friends who helped me in making the event possible; Charlie and Sheila Cabacungan, Aira Abinguna, Johanne Valdez, Frenn Aben, Denmark and Irene Serrano, Mike and Elsa Labuson, Erwin and Joan Abinguna and my mentor Esney Capala.
To my co exhibitors that added colours and life to the event, Yoly McCartney (Swirl’s Jewelry), Ailene Lamsen (Ailene’s Gift and Home Decor), Walter and Sezy Vere (Sezy’s Funtastic Balloon Network) and Art and Vicky del Rosario (Art’s Photography).
To Melissa Villa of the Project Pearls, for letting Gold Ribbon Cake to be part of their noble works in helping the underprivileged children in the Philippines. The money that we had collected from the people, who availed, supported and joined us to this wonderful celebration, was shared to Project Pearls. Thanks to all for the support. Gold Ribbon Cake will always be happy to support programs like this through, “Share a Slice of Cake” Project.
And most of all, I would like to thank my husband, Ace Bandal, for staying at my side and supporting me all the way on my dream. All of these, I am dedicating to my sweet angels, Crystel and James Bandal, and to my sweet and loving parents, late Generoso Angeles and Caridad Angeles. And above all, I thank God who makes things possible always.
